Music and lyrics by Vance Lehmkuhl
From the album, "Electric Green"
Jesus was a flexitarian
He didn't eat meat, but he sometimes ate fish
He stuck to his core beliefs
With rare exceptions for chicken or for beef
He made up his food plan dish by dish
Jesus was a flexitarian
He didn't throw stones or try to be the boss
You should've heard the King of Kings
He said "We gotta respect every single living thing,
And if you'd be so good, could you pass me the tartar
sauce?"
Flexitarians can show you the way
A purely casual approach that's right for today
Cause it doesn't say
It's the right thing to do but we all know it's
true:
Jesus just did what was right for him, so it might be
right for you.
It's easy to be a flexitarian
You don't have to worry 'bout carbs or fat
But be careful about eating meat
Make sure to have some a couple times a week
Or you'll slide into veganism, and what's the point of
that?
Oh every spiritual leader through time
Has had an eating plan to help us reach the
sublime
Confucius
had a line of juices
Akhnaten
had his sauerbraten
Isaiah
said to hold the maya
But Pope John
said to pile it on
The Buddhists
were the first raw foodists
& some of them were nudists
no, really it's true, dis
Moses proposes
ketosis in doses
but Moses he knowses
how phony is he...
Jesus was a flexitarian
He didn't eat meat, but he sometimes ate fish
Once in a while, some lamb
And very rarely, a little slice of ham
He made up his lifestyle dish by dish
Flexitarians can show you the way
A purely casual approach that's right for today
Cause it doesn't say
It's the right thing to do but we all know it's
true:
If it's good enough for the Son of God, then it's
prob'ly good enough for you.
